Review of A World Without Princes by Soman Chainani
Series: The School for Good and Evil, Book 2
Book One of The School for Good and Evil opened with a bang of a sentence, this installment by Soman Chainani opens with a whirlwind of chapters. Agatha and Sophie are back home to live happily ever after, as they wished when Agatha sealed their fate by choosing Sophie over her prince. Did we really think that was the end of this fairy tale? Certainly not, all choices in life have unforeseen consequences.
Can the girls really go back to the happy friendship they experienced prior to the turmoil in their first year at the school? The girls are hero's in the town's eyes and even have a golden statue erected in their honor in the town square. What happens when the town starts being attacked and receiving threatening notices?
GIVE US SOPHIE
SOPHIE OR DIE
The girls find themselves whisked off back to the school grounds, but all is changed. The split between the two sides for good and evil has switched and become girls versus boys in all out warfare. Some teachers have been booted, others have switched sides and what exactly has happened to the Storian and the Schoolmasters Tower? Who can the girls trust in this newly formed chaos and is their true wish still to be back home and together as friends?
The prince chewed on his lip, "Take away Good and Evil, and boys just want treasure and blood."
Fans of the first book should find this to be an even more enjoyable experience. In comparison, book one was the safe side of a fairy tale, focusing more on the good in people while book two explores the evil, twisted and bad side with an intensity that will keep a reader turning the pages to figure out what the girls next move will be and who can they trust. Hidden among the words you will find hidden gems of wisdom to ponder as Sophie and Agatha struggle with the good and evil within themselves to discover what they truly wish.
"Only once you destroy who you think you are can you embrace who you TRULY ARE." - Professor Manley
