Dear me, the groundhog tells us we have another six weeks of winter. Does that mean I get an extra six weeks of reading this year? I could use it, how about you?
What has this week brought reading wise? I have posted some new reviews (thoughts/comments) over on the review page. I also add a new link on the sidebar to a master index of reviews for reference. I am trying to get reviews up for last years reads bit by bit.
I have completed The Elephant and His Secret, which was a short picture book for my Around-the-World Challenge. Being a short picture book I decide to pair with The Book of Imaginary Beings by Jorge Luis Borges for this month's country. In this selection, Borges has created an anthology of tales on imaginary beings, interesting, but not overly informative at this point.
I finished Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin; I have linked through my last update. Need a little time to think before I post my final update yet. This read just dances right into the newest challenge I added to my ever growing list for the year. Russian Literature reads; I have a few already scheduled for the year, making this easy challenge to add.
This weekend I am hoping to actually finish up The Voyage of the "Dawn Treader" by C.S. Lewis, The Devil in the Shape of a Woman by Carol F. Karlsen, The Book of Imaginary Beings by Jorge Luis Borges, and The Auschwitz Escape* by Joel C. Rosenberg to clear some room for the Classic Club Spin on Monday.
I have many additional reads for the month already in various stages of started, including Hild by Nicola Griffith,
Le Morte Darthur by Thomas Malory, Daniel Deronda by George Eliot, and The History of the Ancient World: From the Earliest Accounts to the Fall of Rome (last progress update) by Susan Wise Bauer. I think I will stop with this list; I'm sure your eyes have glazed over already.
* FTC disclosure: I received an unedited advanced reader copy of this book to review from Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. I was not financially compensated by the publisher, Edelweiss or the author. (via Edelweiss)
