and you just have to have said book ASAP. Which in the back of your mind you know you won't get to right away, but just having it near by give you comfort. I am lucky to live near a library that uses the ILL system and participates with a large number of ILL libraries, so with patience, I can usually round up those more obscure, and even the books I would have thought my library system surely should have owned, reads and not scour the internet and used book stores to find. I am dismayed by the amount of floor space now taken up at my local library for computer stations and large empty banks of space for laptops workers to plug in. While I understand that is how students work now and they make great sense to have outlets and nice areas to work it seems to come at a sacrifice to the books available. I scratch my head as I check my local system for books by even the more well-known authors of classics (Dickens, Zola, Trollope, etc) I find the need to request through ILL. I remember trying to reserve The Fortune of the Rougons by Emile Zola only to find we happened to have the first few books in French and a few of the later books in the series in English, but too bad I you wanted to start book one in English. I am thankful for the ILL service they provide and I haven't even had to wait too long for any book that I have request using the service. Now if I could find a way to read all the books I stack up around me each month in hopes of having time stop and allow me to blissfully slip into the tales to be told.
I did read yesterday, but only a small portion of that reading was a library book.

I don't plan on finishing all of these in the week! I will be following up this Read-A-Thon with one hosted by Book Monsters Library for the following week. In any case I am going to aim for 800 pages, I reduced the page count from my last Read-A-Thon by 150 pages, so down from 950. This still is a push as I only finished 590 pages, but I would like to exceed that this week.
Wish me luck. What are your reading plans this week? Previous Postings: Sign-Up [Notice: Original posting 2014-06-08 at Plethora of Books Blog: http://bookchallenges.weebly.com] Tag: Read-A-Thon
