This was pure torture for me and took half the day to type up. As you can see I went with three young, strong characters to battle it out. Picking character traits was not easy, so please be gentle, this is a game, if I crushed your favorite it wasn't personal. I love all these series and characters.
Michael Vey has a unique and powerful set of abilities with being able to create and absorb electricity and a touch of magnetism and levitation. Unfortunately, I'm not sure these abilities would be a match for the magic that Hermione and Carter can conjure up. So lightening bolts aside, I think Vey would be knocked out of the first round. Carter's inner help from Horus could match Hermione's quick wit, as he can let Horus take over and not think about his actions/reactions. However, Hermione has this uncanny wealth of knowledge that she can pull on to always know the correct spell and counter-spell to combat her opponent with. So even though Carter and his world is Egyptian I can only imagine all the hours Hermione spent in the library over the years would have included ancient spells from Egypt as well. Thus, brains beat brawns in this match of wits as Hermione saves the day again and trounces off with her know-it all attitude.
2. Books You're Looking Forward To -- River City Reading (check host link for full details and access to giveaway entry form)
Your challenge is simple: create a list of titles you're looking forward to reading. They can be upcoming titles in a specific season, titles that have been on your shelves, it's up to you!
Not easy to select a group of most looking forward to, but here we go, I selected a smattering of books in various categories:
I really need to stop trying to add to the list, it is taking forever to narrow it down and select "favorites". While I spent the entire morning typing up challenge one (I already typed the rest of this post) UPS blessed me with the delivery of a new ARC read, but as tempting as it is to swap with above, I will leave alone.
