Review of Anne of Green Gables Series by L.M. Montgomery
The Anne of Green Gables series includes eight books:
I am short one book for finishing the entire series in 2013 but decided to place the series in my Top Ten for 2013 anyways. For whatever reason I failed to read Anne (with an "e") as a child so this was my first reading of the series. The series starts out meeting Anne, a red-headed orphan sent to live with the Cuthbert's, a brother and sister that need a helping hand around the farm. Only problem, they ordered a boy to help about the farm, not a girl. Anne needs to win over the Cuthbert's so she can stay at the Green Gables farm. Lucky for Anne she has an incredible knack throughout her life to find the goodness in people and bring change into the hearts of people the community never thought would budge on a viewpoint. Anne's childhood is filled with innocent kids play and bloopers that will make you laugh and grow to find a place for her in your heart. We follow Anne along as she grows from a young orphan girl to a happily married woman with a family of her own. Most of the meeting of her children comes in Anne of Ingleside and will bring the same smiles to your face as she did in Anne of Green Gables when you read the troubles they put themselves in. Rainbow Valley has introduced us to a neighboring family, the Meredith's, the town minister and his four children. Anne herself does not have a big part in this book, even her children take a back seat to the Meredith clan, but you grow to love them and see the same spunk Anne had in Faith Meredith.
