Are you an Amazon Prime member? If so have you heard about the new program called Kindle First? Each month they will select four books, pre-release and as a Prime member you can choose one for free. This book is counted as a purchase so it is for the keeping and does not count against the monthly Prime Owners Lending Library allowance. Yes, a free new release book. You have through the end of the month to claim this deal.
This month brings us the following four choices:
Timebound by Rysa Walker: A science fiction young-adult selection that was the 2013 Grand Prize Winner for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and Winner of the Young Adult Fiction category. This book was previously released under the title Time's Twisted Arrow. This is the start of the Chronos Files series. Sixteen-year-old Kate is given a strange blue medallion by her grandmother speaking of time travel, she is thinking granny has gone off the deep end. This medallion is more than a pretty trinket and leads to a sinister past of murder, is this medallion her only protection to her existence? Can she change the past? Should she change the past?
Soy Sauce for Beginners: A Novel by Kirstin Chen: A women's fiction selection following Gretchen, a thirty-year old woman trying to find her place in life. With her marriage less than perfect she decides to leave San Francisco and journey back to her homeland of Singapore for some time to reflect. Home has its own tensions, a mother with a drinking problem and the complicated soy sauce business of her father. What does this journey back to her homeland bring her? Her mother thinks it is best for her to return to her marriage in San Francisco, her father wants her to remain in Singapore but what does Gretchen want?
Sweet Nothings by Kim Law: A little romance to spice up life for Joanie Bigbee entrepreneur extraordinaire. Joanie has been busy starting new businesses and selling them, currently she sells cupcakes out of the back of a van. She has no intentions of becoming tied down to anything, business or men. She has watched too many loved ones fall for the perfect guy to only be disappointed and struggling to pick-up the pieces. Along comes Nick Dalton, she only wants a taste of him, but he wants the whole kit-n-caboodle.
The Widow File by S.G. Redling: Rounding out the selections with a thriller following Dani Britton. Dani works at a private security firm only to return from a scrubbed mission to find her colleagues dead and the offices ransacked. Choo-Choo, a fellow worker, managed to escape the rampage and the two have teamed up to figure out who is behind this break-in. Can Dani and Choo-Choo stay ahead of the hit team that is out to take her down? Can the hit man, Tom Booker, do his job as a hired assassin or has he fallen for Dani?
Choices, at least it was narrowed down to four for me, I went with Timebound for this month's freebie, how about you?
